Healing HeARTs was founded in August 2022 by Sophie Paek, Danielle Snaza, and Myat Wai. All are alumni and friends from the Narrative Medicine M.S. Program at the University of Southern California. The three came together as a team the fall after graduation from the Program to more fully dedicate themselves to hearing out and caring for those whose voices and experiences are often unheard and silenced. Combining their desire to sincerely engage in the experiences of minoritized individuals and their artistic talents as visual, musical, and literary artists, Healing HeARTs reaches out to one individual at a time.
