A 2-1-1 hotline is available in many communities and offers trained staff 24/7 to help residents access services like shelter, healthcare, food and other social services programs. Call 211.

Encampment outreach programs 2-3 days per week in Atwater Village, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Northeast Hollywood, and the LA River, and hand out clothing, hygiene supplies and hot meals at weekly shower programs in Silver Lake and Echo Park.

The Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) is particularly responsive to the needs of women experiencing homelessness and provides emergency, temporary and permanent housing along with on-site medical services. TRC provides supportive services, outreach, emergency and whaling interventions to victims/survivors and their families. They also focus on responding to victimization from crimes and complex trauma from interpersonal violence.

Good for ID’s, long-term medical support, and housing assistance.
LA-HOP is designed to assist people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County with outreach services. They’ll use the submitted information to dispatch a homeless services outreach team to the area.
Outreach workers have many different skills including:

Homeless services navigation, mental health first aid, motivational interviewing, and trauma informed care, among others.

Some teams even have physical health, mental health and substance use professionals.

Their efforts can be as simple as helping someone experiencing homelessness get an ID card or as complex as helping to meet medical and mental health needs. These teams focus on street-based services.
